Beyond Yoga, BGC Taguig I have been practicing Yoga for three or four times already together with Ayeen. Our barkada, Anna Manalastas just got certified last year so we're having private sessions with her. Two weeks ago she invited me to join the 108 Surya Namaskar, or the 108 Sun Salutations. It's a cycle of movements done 108 times. To know more about it you can read this link. As to why it is repeated 108 times, well the number has various meanings. It is the malas or the garlands of prayer beads come as a string of 108 beads. The average distance of the Sun and the Moon to Earth is 108 times their respective diameters. According to yogic tradition, there are 108 pithas, or sacred sites, throughout India. And there are also 108 Upanishads and 108 marma points, or sacred places of the body .
