BALERinas

The History

May 2009 was my first time to see Baler with Ayeen, Charmy and Jean. We don't know anything about the place aside from what we've read from the internet. We went there expecting nothing. Little did we know that we'll be falling in love with Baler. The place was just so beautiful and relaxing.

I remember we took the 5am Genesis bus. It was an 8-hour long most memorable bus ride. In Cabanatuan we met our "bespren" mani vendor. We were sleeping soundly when we were awakened by his style of selling mani. "Oh mga bespren mani kayo diyan, may bawang. Kumain kayo ng maning may bawang para di kayo maloko ng boypren niyo!" We couldn't hold our laughter. The third and last stop over was something to remember as well. The signage on the CR was very funny. 2 hours more before we arrive according to the conductor. Back in the bus we noticed a cute little boy and called him Shaolin kid! He was just adorable we couldn't stop laughing.

Finally we arrive Baler. We didn't have room reservations. Ate Lydia, gladly accompanied us to look for one. Btw, we just met her also in the bus. We landed at Little Girls Surfers' Lodge. We were at a tight budget so we opted to get a fan room for two at 300/night.

All set for lunch at Bay's Inn. Highlight order: Lemon Chicken. When served, we got ORANGE CHICKEN!!! Bwahahha again the laughter!

The next day surf's up! Riding the waves felt sooo good! The high feeling couldn't be explained, thus the term STOKED!.

Some quotable quotes during this trip include: Ilabas ang ahayskriim.. Howkam naman teh'... (Tonic, asking Jean why she doesn't have small bill..)

Back in Manila, we had our lunch at Kenny Roger's Galleria. We couldn't let go of everything that happened. We wanted to share to everyone the experience we had in Baler, thus BALERinas was born. We even bought dog tags to signify our bond! How funny was that? So that's how BALERinas began! It has been a yearly even since then. We make it a point to widen our circle by inviting different people with the same love for nature.
