Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

This is so far the farthest and the longest travel ever with my mom! It's a last minute decision and there's not much planning made so all flights to Laoag are booked. We went the long way and took a bus supposedly to Laoag, but since there were a lot of passengers, we had to take an 8-hour bus ride to Vigan instead. From Vigan, we took a 2-hour bus to Laoag. And then from Laoag, 3-hour rockstar bus with vegetables and chickens to PAGUDPUD!

Whew finally made it! There's no time to waste so as soon as we got off the bus, we got a tricycle to take us to the North bound Pagudpud tour.

Kabigan Falls

P100-tour guide fee

P10-entrance fee

It's a 20-30min trek to the falls. The trail is easy. Very nice and majestic falls. Worth the trek and worth seeing.

Kabigan Falls

Patapat Viaduct

It's just along the highway. A lot of tourists stop here to take photos because of the scenery.

Agua Grande

P25-entrance fee

Picnic place and nice area for picture taking. They also have a some sort of infinity pool.

Paraiso ni Anton

You will see mini falls and a grotto. Across Paraiso ni Anton are vendors of souvenir items.

Timmangtang Rock

Rock formation. Awesome place for photo op.

Bantay Abot Cave

One of the favorite places I've seen in this North bound tour. Picture perfect! Sobrang ok na pang prenup location. Plus we were guided by a cute boy named July.

Blue Lagoon Beach

It's a nice beach in Pagudpud. Sand is fine, close to but not as white as Boracay. Blue Lagoon is considered the center area. There are a lot of people staying here especially at Hannah's Hotel. I wouldn't recommend staying here not unless you want a crowded, busy, and noisy atmosphere. You can surf here as well. But there are other surf spots you can go to of course. I'm just not a fan of Blue Lagoon because of the mentioned reasons.

Dos Hermanos

Again rock formations located near our very homey hotel, Casa Consuelo.

That ends our North bound tour. We ended at our hotel and finally checked in.

Casa Consuelo is far from Blue Lagoon, around 10 minutes walk. I like the area. It's beach front. We got an aircon room for two with free breakfast. Food was ok. I loved every dish served. The greeting note on the table added to my appetite. I'll definitely come back and stay there.

Kapuluan Vist Resort

This is where we had our dinner. We ordered dinakdakan, pakbet, and special empanada. Food was great. KVR is a nice hotel as well. They have pool and surf lessons offered.

Had to go back the next morning to take this photo:)

The next day, Mr. Sun was up. The cold weather was tolerable without jacket. Perfect for morning surf. By 730am we ate our free breakfast. I got bagnetsilog, while momi got longsilog. As mentioned, this good morning note added good vibes to the meal.

Stomach full. A little stretching, then off to Blue Lagoon to surf. I booked a guide at KVR with their instructor. Safety first. Even if you know how to surf, you still need a guide especially if it's your first time to try out their point. Waves were small though. I really needed an instructor to push me haha back to basics. Mahirap nang ma-zero ng sakay lalo pa na malayo ang binyahe ko ano. Kelangan makalong ride man lang kahit de-tulak. Got some good rides thanks to Carlo. Another reason to go back.. Surf during their season which is around June-September. Definitely next year.

Back in our hotel, lunch was served, buttered shrimp with garlic and Ilocano salad called poque-poque. Plus two buko as refreshment. Hay sarap solb nanaman.

Checked out 1230pm and off to our South bound tour.

Bangui Windmill

Around 20 windmills lined up. All functioning and supply energy to nearby towns.

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation

This spot is another one of my favorites in the whole Pagudpud tour. Ang ganda lang talga. Words are not enough to describe its beauty. Even photographs can't do any justice. You have to see it for yourself.

Burgos Lighthouse

A historic spot in Pagudpud, this lighthouse is still functioning at present. View from the top is again breathtaking. Our tour guide by the way was very nice and took photos of us. He knows where the right angle is to fully show the beauty of the spots we've been to.

View at the top of the light house

That ends our South bound tour. Goodbye Pagudpud. Now off to Laoag again. We rode another rockstar bus going back to Laoag and from there took our bus back to Manila.

Whatta trip! Lovely indeed especially because I'm with my mom. Tandem girl power! Whew. Thank you momi. I enjoyed this trip with you. This 2013, I've had a lot of surf trips with my friends but this one trip with you is extra special and I wouldn't trade it for any other surf trips. Happy New Year Momi! I love you!
