Other side of Baler
June 11-12, 2016
Baler, Aurora
Around this time last year, I was with my 3rd generation cousins from the Martinez side for our first ever out of town trip to Baler. I was of course happy to arrange everything for them and let them experience the fun when surfing.
I go back endlessly with a much renewed experience as always. Baler's beauty amazes me whether the waves are strong and high or even when still and flat as a river. The massive influx of tourists sometimes annoys me. Let's face it, they bring progress to this little town, and livelihood to the locals, but at the same time causes degradation of natural resources if abused most especially. I just hope that this town we all love will work its way towards sustainable tourism with the help of all the stakeholders. Yes! That includes you.
Flat spell. Sabang beach was too calm and serene. But hey don't fret! Baler is not just all about surfing. It's the perfect place to just relax, enjoy the view, SLEEP, EAT, drink, read a book, and do anything you want besides surfing.
If you want to be away from the crowd in Sabang, Seasta Beach Resort is the place to go. Let the photos speak for itself (excuse that all of the photos include me) haha. I couldn't resist. They have a pool, bar, ac kubos, wifi, parking space, board/bike/kayak rental, and the very chill tambayan areas. They also offer breakfast, drinks, snacks, and dinner. Everything is in this resort already. And if you want some challenge, go surf at Cemento.
It was a good call to swim in the morning. Luckily we had the resort all to ourselves. Early birds! The guests haven't arrived. We tried their fish n chips, cooked by the owner herself! Thank you so much. It was delicious. The fish they used was I think blue marlin while the chips were real potato wedges. Thumbs up!
Getting here is easy if you have your own vehicle. Otherwise, ride a tricycle to take you here (but this may take longer. Or if you opt for a little adventure and you want to save time take a shortcut going to secret point, then take a 5-peso boat to cross that short span of water, then another tricycle. That's faster believe me!
Will definitely go back here and stay over night next time!
