During the ICT boot camp, my colleagues were talking about Buy Bust, an opening film in the Cinemalaya. They said since it's in the opening act, it means it's a must see!  "Because there's no other day but today!" was my thinking yesterday. Right after the ICT boot camp in school I asked my best friend to come with me and see it. The film was of course about a buy bust operation, high lighting the war on drugs theme in our country. It's a sad reality. Lots of innocent civilian people and even policemen killed. Drug dealers won't really end because they are being protected by some higher ups in the police department. The dirty political system and unceasing corruption. I still salute and honor the policemen who have clean conscience and whole heartedly doing their job. Bless them always and their family.

Lek lent me her hard drive full of movies and songs. Here's one of those movies I watched, Half Baked. It's about four friends who love getting baked together. Until one day Kenny got jailed because he fed the policeman's diabetic horse with sweets and died instantly. So the rest of the friends had to do something to bail their friend out. How? Here's another one of my favorite surf documentaries. Step Into Liquid. Literally stepping into liquid is what surfers do. It's the best feeling ever. I don't know the right words how to describe or even explain. You have to try it yourself. Written and directed by Dana Brown. He followed three Irish brothers as they not only introduced some local kids to surf but also invited Protestant boys and girls to join Catholic kids for the lessons. As can be expected, the surfing footage is heart-pounding stuff; you’ll be amazed just how close Brown will bring you to the action. Slow-motion camera work elongates some of the most spectacular rides, and you’ll feel every wipeout as though it had happened to you. Dana is the son of Bruce Brown, who is the man behind the classic surfing documentary, Endless Summer.

The Endless Summer is a surfing documentary by Bruce Brown . He follows two young surfers Michael Hynson and Robert August around the world in search for the perfect wave. Watch this for a PRE-STOKED feeling before heading to your home break! I've watched it already it amazed me how surfing evolved from classic surfing to the different tricks done today. Boards and most especially fashion have evolved! Hahaha. Notice the shorts worn by the two surfers in this film! And yess di pa talaga uso gumamit ng leash noon. Hardcore!

The Cove shot by a team of activists, film makers and free divers. Their mission: to penetrate a reomote and hidden cove in Taiji, Japan, shining a light on a dark and deadly secret. Hidden microphones and cameras in fake rocks were used to uncover how this village does massive dolphin slaughter. Academy Award Winner for Best Documentary of 2009. Thousands of dolphins captured and killed. Some placed on theme parks for show, some sold as meat. Sad but true! In the Philippines, Ocean Adventure Park in Subic has imported five false killer whales, and seven bottlenose dophins from the Japanese dive fishery. by Mark Meily Of all the Cinemalaya entries, I chose to see Donor since it received the Best Picture and won awards for Best Performance of an Actor (Baron Geisler), Best Performance of an Actress (Meryll Soriano), Best Performance of a Supporting Actress (Karla Pambid), and Best Production Design (Aped Santos). Visit Cinemalaya for the synopsis and to know more about the Director. Organ trafficking in the Philippines is quite alarming. The Director said that the Philippines is the third highest in the world. That's how poor our country is. People resort to selling their organs for money, to sustain daily needs. I couldn't bare the fact that some people really go through the process. But I'm hopeful that our country will rise and be as rich as the other top countries.

I tried enlisting Film 110 many times and every time I don't get enlisted. Luckily I got it this semester. Film 110 is offered by the College of Mass Communication (CMC) under the Film Institute. Film 110's course title: Basic Photography. Class requirement-- Single lens Reflex (SLR). I really want to learn how to shoot artistically and to know how to use the SLR we have at home and of course how to develop photographs. Here comes the dirty work in Film 110! This afternoon was our first hand experience of printing our photographs. It was a long and tedious process! I think my muscles firmed from agitating the developing tank for so many times. After the final step, photo gloss, moment of truth.. here you will see if you took photographs successfully and did the tedious steps of agitating using the different liquids correctly. For my first roll, only a few photographs were ok and visible. The other were blank frames. Huhu, my heart sank! So I had to shoot again and do the proces...
