Mesa
Uncle Marcus, Auntie Aster and Malaya came to visit the Philippines. We had dinner last night at Mesa, Filipino Moderne in Greenbelt 5.
They serve the all time favorite Filipino dish. We ordered Pomelo Salad and baked scallops for appetizer. For the main course we had, sisig with egg, beef two-way, crispy hito, chicken binakol, laing two-way, and the best seller 1/2 crispchon two-way. Bagoong rice. Lahat masarap! Notice the two-way on some of our orders? It's called two-way because they are two dishes in one order. So the beef two-way was cooked in two different ways. One is crispy fried beef while the other one is beef cooked in coco nut. The crispchon is a MUST TRY! It's two way because half of it was chopped while half of it were wrapped in pandan crepe. You know what they do with pecking duck. The meat, strip of crispy balat, strip of cucumber, and some herb all wrapped together using the pandan crepe. Very delicious! Add to that the three kinds of sauce to choose from, the usual mang tomas gravy, white sauce used for shawarma, or teriyaki sauce. I give their food a two thumbs up!
The interior of the restaurant was very nice and elegant. You'll see the touch of Filipino in the furniture they use and even their utensils. Makes me even prouder of being a Filipino. There are also function rooms there for big occasions. So if you plan to have your birthday celebration, it'll be the perfect place. For reservations call (632) 728-0886.
Food price is affordable. The crispchon though is quite expensive but you won't regret when you order it.
How to get to Mesa? From EDSA, turn right to Ayala Ave, left to Makati Ave, then right to Dela Rosa St. (it's the first right turn after taking a left to Makati Ave) At the corner of Dela Rosa st you will see Ayala Museum, beside it is Greenbelt 5. First street to the left is Legazpi, find your parking there. Mesa is located at the second floor of Greenbelt 5.
